today i’m sharing one of my most favorite dessert recipes…
nana’s dirt cake!
whenever nana asked me what kind of dessert i’d like her to make my answer was always always “dirt cake!”
i have such fond memories of sharing this tasty treat with her.
and now it’s one of my favorite desserts to make and share.
i hope you enjoy it just as much as my family has!
nana’s dirt cake
-2 packages oreo cookies, crushed well
-1/2 stick butter
-8oz cream cheese, softened
-1 c powdered sugar
-3 1/2 c milk
-2 small packages instant french vanilla pudding
-12 oz container of cool whip, thawed
-cream butter, cream cheese and powdered sugar.
-mix together milk, instant pudding mixes and cool whip.
-add to cream cheese mix and mix well.
-place a layer of crushed cookies in bottom of container.
-add a layer of filling.
-repeat until out of mix.
-end with a layer of crushed cookies.
-refrigerate at least 2 hour prior to serving.
-decorate with fake flowers or gummy worms.
nana usually makes this in a plastic flower pot. obviously purchased for this occasion. if you decide to use a flower pot, make sure you put a piece of tinfoil to clog up the little water hole at the bottom. this can be made in any type of serving dish. i prefer a clear glass one so all can see the layers. the last time i made it i used a trifle dish.
BIGGEST TIP EVER!!!!!
the recipe says to refrigerate for at least 2 hours…dirt cake always tastes best when eaten the next day.
the longer it sits, the better it gets!
if you decide to make dirt cake, which you should!!!, send me a pic and let me know how it goes!
