weekend in raleigh, nc!

for my big birthday present, j surprised me with a weekend trip to raleigh, nc!
what a weekend!!!

raleigh or bustraleigh or bust.

we made the quick 2-ish hour drive after he got off work friday and had maybe 45 minutes to spare before his first surprise started…
a ghost tour and pub crawl!

raleigh ghost tour and pub crawlbefore the crawl.

we visited 3 haunted locations and stopped by 4 bars.
it was a great way to get a feel of the downtown area and to hear about raleigh’s spooky past.

raleigh love 2after the crawl i took and edited this sweet pic.
not sure how i did it, but i’m liking it!

saturday we went to bruegger’s for breakfast.
bruegger's bagelshis & hers.
yummmmmmmm!

after we headed to the mall which is such a treat for us.
you can walk from one end to the other of our nearest “mall” in approximately 3 minutes…

after dropping way too much money on new clothes and other goodies, we went back to the hotel and got ready for j’s second surprise…
a gourmet food tour of raleigh!
we went to five different locations and all the food/desserts/drinks were beyond incredible.
again, a great way to get to know the area and all the bomb restaurants.

sunday we stopped by benelux coffee for a quick bite to eat before hitting the road.
this cafe was highly recommended to us by our gourmet food tour guide and we’re so happy we listened.

benelux in raleigh 3the waffles were great and our lattes were perfection!

they also sell stroop waffles.
i’ve never heard of them before but am so glad we gave this new treat a try!
benelux in raleigh 4you place the waffle over a hot cup of coffee (it’s supposed to be over a mug but we improvised…) and the warmth from the drink heats up the filling which softens it and makes it even more incredible.
so cool!

everything we ate and saw was awesome.

raleigh is a great mix of old and new and i’m so glad we made the trip!

thanks raleigh for a great time!
benelux in raleighwe’ll definitely be back!

backyard bonfires with my boys ❤ if you know me, one of the best words to describe me is "busy". i spend my days constantly running from one activity to the next. even though i love all that i'm doing, it's still easy to feel burnt out. especially with the holiday season so quickly approaching, i'm making it my intention so slow down. take a few deep breaths. sit and listen to the rain. treat myself to a coffee at my favorite cafe. get to a yoga class. make time to be still.
you can't pour from an empty cup. how will you fill yours today? all i want to do is love on him but all he wants to do is hunt down the squirrels 😀
